It’s time for Spring Recharge!
Get tips and insights on where to go and what to do for your Spring Recharge.
What is Spring Recharge?
Recharge is a week off to do anything but work. I experienced the Coinbase benefit a few years ago and have made it my own.
Travel is one of the things that I love to do during recharge. Last year, I did a quick Spring Recharge in Victoria, BC and then a second one in Whistler, BC a month later. Both were fun and beautiful for very different reasons.
Victoria is the Capital of British Columbia so the trip was educational and enlightening on a number of current societal issues. Whereas Whistler provided the opportunity to spend time in nature.
If you’re looking for somewhere to go this Spring, both are good options especially if you can go right after Spring Break. Traveling on the shoulder of the season makes both destinations more affordable and enjoyable due to lighter crowds.
Not convinced you need a Spring Recharge?
According to Harvard Health, taking a vacation improves your wellbeing. Many of the benefits are derived from rest and more sleep. Specifically:
1/ Uncluttered your mind
2/ Improve your mood
3/ Boost your immune system
4/ Feel connected and happier
5/ Increase your productivity
Other things to do during Spring Recharge
1/ Connect with friends and family
Family visits are different than vacation. It took a while for me to realize that it’s best to show up without a plan and to enjoy the experience for what it is which is simply time to connect. When I show up without expectations and to-do list, I leave feeling calm, grounded and happier for the experience.
2/ Reinvest in your skills
Invest some of your time in skill development and nurturing your creativity because what’s good for the mind is also good for the soul. I typically have a bunch of reading to catch up on, light research to do and classes booked so that I get to be the student rather than the teacher. You’ll work smarter not harder when you return.
3/ Clean out the cobwebs
There is nothing better than opening the windows to let in some crisp fresh air while you clean your home, office, computer or whatever else needs a little TLC. If you don’t have time to do it yourself, hire someone to help you. It’s money well spent to feel the mental lightness that comes with clearing the cobwebs and refreshing everything for the start of a new season and a new quarter.
