Prepare now to make your new year bright.
With a little extra preparation now, you have the ability to make the new year bright.
Six steps to prepare now for a bright new year
1/ Craft your plan
The Covid pandemic transitioned to endemic status which means that most countries now have access to the vaccines and therapeutics to contain and treat the Covid virus. That change alone made it an interesting year for most of us. Think about what worked, what didn’t and what could be better for you next year. Write it down.
2/ Establish a baseline for your health
If you haven’t checked your health stats this year, now is a good time to do it. It will help you establish a baseline for your health and set reasonable health goals for the new year.
3/ Talk with your doctor
Make it a point to speak with your physician and/or pharmacist about your goals. Many of them are taking a more holistic approach to care and providing their expert advise on diet, medications and supplements, exercise, sleep etc. to help keep you healthy. With so much disinformation and misinformation being spread through social media, getting their professional opinion is a good idea especially if something sounds too good to be true.
4/ Ask for support
There is no shame in asking for help. Talk with your friends and family about what you need and what they are able to offer. Be thankful for whatever they can give and then look for additional sources of support whether from a coach, mentor, therapist or support group. All sources can be helpful during different segments of your journey to better health and wellbeing.
5/ Improve your financial picture
Global issues are creating issues at home for many people and unfortunately, governments have limited means to address the issues. However, there are still things you can do to mitigate the financial impact of inflation. The job market is still strong because many companies are still restaffing to pre-pandemic levels. If you haven’t changed jobs in a while, now is a good time to explore new job opportunities and career paths.
6/ Make your vote count
The biggest issues we face as a society require us to have an understanding of the underlying problems and potential solutions. Politicians often use short term solutions to alleviate the immediate impact but long term solutions are needed to address issues like crime and the cost of housing. Listen carefully for what they can do now and and in the near term to address your issues and how their now and near steps play into their vision for the future.
