Be a person whose age cannot be defined
Ageless describes a person or thing whose age cannot be defined, is non-existent, or appears not to change. If you’re looking for ways to preserve your youthful skin and body, these four tips from Zelnick Straus author of The Four Secrets to Looking and Feeling Younger than Ever are a good start. At 61, he appears to be living proof that they work.
Four health tips to be ageless
1/ Start Slow
If you’re new to working out or haven’t worked out in a while, start slow and build up. Working out 9 hours in one day isn’t going to have a long term impact and may even increase your risk of injury. Working out for 3 times a week for 30 minutes will improve your health. Increase the intensity or duration of your workout as you become stronger to keep your workouts interesting and challenging.
2/ Eat good food
According to the American Cardiology Association, plant-based diets and the Mediterranean diet are best for your heart and health. Both diets are rich in vegetables, fruits, grains, beans and healthy fats. Beyond those basics, there are ways to tailor the diets for your preferences and beliefs around dairy and meat.
If you’re concerned about the cost of eating healthy food, change your mindset to “I can’t afford not to eat healthy foods”. Prepared and packaged foods often cost more than many of the whole foods included in a plant based and mediterranean diet. Plus you’ll reduce your healthcare related expenses by eating more nutritious food.
3/ Get regular checkups
If you can’t remember the last time you saw a doctor and don’t have cognitive impairment, book an appointment for a checkup. Prevention, early detection and treatment are the best way to address medical problems. Getting early treatment is usually easier on your body and cheaper on your pocket book. If you have a family history of certain diseases, consider genetic testing and digital heath tools to monitor your condition. All good topics to discuss with your physician.
4/ Develop a spiritual practice
Research shows that positive beliefs, comfort and strength gained from a spiritual practice can contribute to healing and a sense of wellbeing. Spirituality is broadly defined as a sense of connection and search for meaning in life. By definition spirituality calls for a continuous practice of your religious faith, values, beliefs, principles and morals in some manner. Spiritual practices include yoga, meditation, and prayer.
It’s never too late to start.
No matter what age you start incorporating these tips into your life, you’ll feel and look younger.
